In Dirt, Codemasters has taken everything that made their flagship Colin McRae Rally franchise so great, namely intense realism, superb handling, and uncanny attentation to detail and applied racing disciplines: CORR, rally, rally raid, rally cross, cross over and hill climb. The end result is a whole lot of great racing game experience which you have never seen.
Behind the wheel, each type of racing has its own challenges and rewards. Each without vibration feed back, you get a true feel for the road and graphics, something that Sega Rally Revo, has to offer for the off road racing fans. Dirt also ups the ante on its competitors with absolutely great amount of damage modeling and car destructibility.
It clips along smoothly and looks every bit next-gen, nearing photorealism at times. Its biggest flaw is a seriously weak online style (rally and hill climb only, and you are challenging against other races you can’t see for the best time). Away from that, it is wholesome dirt racing amazement that solemn sim enthusiasts will enjoy in and extra relaxed players will want to thrust them selves to become more expert at.
